Bristlr for beard fans, lmao. Imagine swiping just for facial hair. I’m dying. Anyone actually tried that?

Ephoenix January 10, 2025 at 5:20 pm

No gamer dating sites in the article? Bruh, LFGdating’s out there. Need a girl who gets my WoW addiction.

Been rocking DoULike for a year, fam. Algo’s on point, chats are deep, and it’s free to start. Can’t complain!

DoULike’s dope, man. Cheap, real people, no bot army. Hooked up with some cool folks already.

Veggly? Dude, yes! Vegan here and dating’s a nightmare when they don’t get it. Worth a shot?

Avatar
Melissa February 28, 2025 at 6:14 pm

Okay, DoULike’s my jam rn. Been on it a couple months and the value match thing? Freaking gold. Met someone chill who’s into the same weird stuff I am. Beats Tinder by a mile, no cap.

Yo, what’s up with dog lover dating sites? Saw Dig somewhere—any good? My dog’s my life, need a match who’s obsessed too.

Avatar
Mike March 13, 2025 at 7:39 am

Honestly, I have a weird relationship with niche dating apps. I’ve tried more than I care to admit — from Tastebuds to Bristlr to even that one for book lovers (don’t ask). And while the article does a good job laying out the variety that’s out there, I think it glosses over one key issue: niche doesn’t guarantee compatibility. Like, just because someone is also vegan or into astrology doesn’t mean you’ll magically click. In fact, I’ve had some of the worst dates with people who were “perfect on paper” — same interests, same values, even same MBTI type — but zero actual chemistry.
That said, I did find the part about Doulike kind of refreshing. I’ve used it casually before and actually appreciated that it wasn’t trying to be flashy or gimmicky. The “Value Match” system felt more meaningful than just endless swiping. I wouldn’t say it changed my life, but it did lead to a few good conversations — which is more than I can say for most apps. At least Doulike feels like it’s made for grownups who are tired of dating being a game.
Another thing the article touched on that deserves more attention is how these platforms can become echo chambers. Like, you join an app where everyone shares your interest in sustainability or body positivity, and suddenly there’s this weird performative vibe. It’s like people are more invested in showing how “aligned” they are with the niche than just being human. I get it — common ground matters — but it shouldn’t be the only ground.
Also, let’s be honest: many of these apps suffer from the same issues as mainstream ones — ghosting, catfishing, dead conversations, etc. The niche label doesn’t automatically mean higher quality. It’s just marketing, most of the time.
But hey, I’m not totally jaded. I think there’s value in exploring options, especially if the big apps have burned you out. Just go in with realistic expectations. You’re not guaranteed a soulmate just because they also like hummus or have a Scorpio moon.

Avatar
Taylor July 29, 2025 at 5:49 pm

This is too much like my homepage. I also went through the whole niche app phase of spending real money on the farm/home thing thinking I would find my soulmate offline. Instead, I got three so-so dates with guys.

Avatar
Wayne March 20, 2025 at 1:43 am

Music matching sounded dope, but I got paired with pop fans when I’m into rap.

Avatar
Renni March 29, 2025 at 5:22 pm

Nice rundown, but missed my fave niche app.

Avatar

DoULike feels so welcoming!

Avatar
Kathy April 11, 2025 at 8:21 am

I’ve got to be honest — I’m exhausted by dating apps. This article reminded me just how fragmented and weird the whole scene has become. I get the appeal of niche platforms, and sure, they sound great in theory: meet someone who shares your values, lifestyle, music taste, or favorite type of hummus. But in reality? It’s often the same recycled experience, just with a new coat of paint and a smaller user base.
Don’t get me wrong — I’ve tried a few of these. Tastebuds was fun for about a week, until I realized we were just bonding over playlists but had zero emotional connection. I matched with a guy on an astrology-based app once — our signs were supposedly “cosmic soulmates,” but he ghosted after three messages. So much for destiny.

Avatar
Larry April 15, 2025 at 2:03 pm

This feels like it was written by someone who only dates via apps and has never had a real relationship. Like, yes, shared values are important, but if you need a hyper-specific filter like “cosmic soulmates,” maybe you’re not actually ready to meet people as they are. Just saying.

Avatar
Tim April 17, 2025 at 7:29 pm

Not bad, surprisingly thoughtful.

Avatar
Lisa April 25, 2025 at 5:35 am

Ugh, saw this article and thought it’d be my ticket to finding a niche app that fits me. Spoiler: it’s mostly fluff. They list all these apps like they’re all amazing, but don’t warn you about the ones that suck. Tried Blk cause it was on here, and it was a nightmare—laggy, full of fake profiles hitting me up for crypto. No heads-up in the article about that mess. It’s like they’re just hyping everything to get clicks, not giving the real scoop. Wasted weeks before I bailed and tried DoULike, which is honestly the only reason I’m not fully raging. Value Match is legit, got me vibing with people who actually share my values. Wish the article had been upfront about the hit-or-miss nature of these apps instead of selling them all as perfect.

Avatar
Marcus September 2, 2025 at 2:29 pm

THIS!! Thank you for keeping it real… these articles always read like sponsored content where everything is “amazing” and “revolutionary” when half these apps are straight garbage. The crypto scammer thing is so real too, like why are they everywhere now?? Glad doulike worked out for you though, might have to check it out since you actually tried the trash ones first lmao. We need more honest reviews instead of this “every app is perfect for someone” bullshit

Avatar
Angel May 1, 2025 at 8:22 am

Christian Cafe sounded like a dream for faith-based dating, but it’s a hard pass. The Bible study chat rooms and prayer forums are such a great concept, but the website looks like it’s stuck in the early 2000s

Avatar
Paul May 6, 2025 at 9:54 am

DoULike gets me. Best matches ever.

Avatar
Doris May 15, 2025 at 6:54 pm

Really interesting read! But I’m curious—how do these niche sites stack up against giants like Tinder in terms of users and actual success? Like, does Blk have enough people on it to work if you’re not in a big city? Would love some details on that

Avatar
Jane May 19, 2025 at 1:38 pm

I was skeptical about niche dating apps, but DoULike changed my mind. I signed up because it was free for women, and I ended up meeting a guy who shares my passion for hiking and community volunteering. We’ve been together for six months now, and I’m so glad I gave it a shot. This article’s list is solid for anyone looking to try something new!

Avatar
Hank May 22, 2025 at 9:47 am

This article is so out of touch! Half these apps have tiny user bases, and the “free” plans are basically useless unless you fork over cash. Why not just use Instagram or X to find people with similar interests instead of wasting time on these glorified paywalls?

Avatar
Toya June 1, 2025 at 9:19 pm

WooPlus seemed promising for body-positive vibes, but you can’t message much without paying, and I keep seeing sketchy profiles. The League’s another one I tried—not in your list—and it’s all hype; super exclusive but barely any matches. Living in a small town’s probably killing my chances, but these apps feel more frustrating than fun.

Avatar
Eddie June 5, 2025 at 7:06 pm

Man, this article’s got me rethinking my whole dating game, and DoULike’s been a straight-up gem! That value-matching deal is fire—matched me with someone who loves late-night philosophy talks, and we’re already planning a coffee shop debate. App’s clean and chill, but yeah, it’s a bit quiet locally, as the article warned. Totally worth it for finding your kind of weird!

Avatar
Fred June 10, 2025 at 7:11 pm

Bristlr is dead lol. Like literally 3 active users in my city.

Avatar
Rex June 12, 2025 at 5:34 pm

Niche apps are just marketing. Used DoULike, Coffee Meets Bagel, The Inner Circle, even tried this weird app called Mingleton for tall people (yes that exists).
Best relationship came from meeting someone at a grocery store. Maybe try touching grass instead of downloading your 47th dating app?

Avatar
Fred June 16, 2025 at 3:52 pm

wait DateBritishGuys is real??? downloading now brb

Avatar
Angela June 19, 2025 at 11:23 am

okay storytime because this thread is making me nostalgic for my app-hopping days
started on Christian Cafe because my mom literally paid for my subscription as a “early birthday gift” (I was 29, thanks mom). the prayer forums were actually really sweet but $44.97 is highway robbery. met one guy who seemed normal until he asked if I was “pure” on the second date. NOPE.
then tried Veggly because I went through a brief plant-based phase after watching some Netflix documentary. the recipe sharing was cute but I kept getting lectured about honey not being vegan. like sir, this is a Wendy’s (actually it was a vegan restaurant but you get it).
ended up on WooPlus after gaining 30lbs during pandemic and honestly? best decision ever. everyone there has been through body image shit so conversations are just more real. no one’s asking for full body pics or making weird comments about “staying in shape.” met my current bf there and he loves my curves AND my sourdough addiction.
moral of the story: mainstream apps suck, niche apps have their own drama, but at least the drama is more specific to your interests lol

Avatar
Francis June 23, 2025 at 5:47 pm

DoULike’s “value match” thing actually works? Been burned by so many dating apps promising “better matches” but it’s always just the same swipe-fest with different branding

Avatar
babe June 26, 2025 at 1:12 pm

obsessed with NUiT rn. finally an app that doesn’t think astrology is “just for fun” 🙄

Avatar
Justin July 1, 2025 at 2:57 pm

Anyone else think some of these are getting too specific? Like, beards? Really? What’s next, an app for people who like pineapple on pizza? Though honestly, if there was a pineapple pizza app I’d probably download it just to see what happens

Avatar
Edgar July 22, 2025 at 7:27 pm

Dude I would 100% join the pineapple pizza app just to find my people!

Avatar
Mike July 2, 2025 at 6:54 pm

Tried Tastebuds last year. Pretty cool concept.

Avatar
Sara July 6, 2025 at 12:40 pm

DoULike gives me fewer matches but they’re SO much better quality. I’d rather have 3 meaningful connections than 50 shallow ones.

Avatar
Sam July 10, 2025 at 10:25 am

Half these apps sound like they’d die out in 6 months. Remember when Google+ was gonna kill Facebook? Yeah, me neither.

Avatar
Donny July 24, 2025 at 3:53 pm

You’re probably right though. Half these niche apps feel like someone’s weekend coding project that got way too much venture capital funding. Like how many “revolutionary dating platforms” can the market actually support?

Avatar
Peter July 16, 2025 at 2:28 pm

Honestly all these niche apps make me more nervous. Like what if I pick the wrong one and miss my person because they’re on a different specialized app? Analysis paralysis is real y’all.

Avatar
James July 16, 2025 at 3:48 pm

I felt this in my soul! Spent 2 weeks researching which app to join and my friend was like “just pick one and see what happens.” Ended up on three different ones and now I’m juggling conversations about astrology, CrossFit, and book recommendations. Maybe the real strategy is accepting that your person might be anywhere? Sometimes overthinking the platform means we miss focusing on just being ourselves.

Avatar
Taylor July 31, 2025 at 2:44 pm

Y’all… I might be falling for someone I met on DoULike? After years of “what are you looking for” turning into “just seeing what’s out there,” I found someone who actually knows what they want. We’ve been texting for hours about random stuff and it doesn’t feel performative. This is dangerous territory and I’m here for it.

Avatar
Theo August 7, 2025 at 4:51 pm

DoULike is pretty solid if you’re tired of the mainstream dating app BS. not perfect but at least it feels like they’re trying to match you with compatible people instead of just showing you everyone within 10 miles. conversations tend to go somewhere which is rare these days

Avatar
Mia August 14, 2025 at 4:36 pm

Okay but why is nobody talking about how these niche apps make you feel like a weirdo for having multiple interests? Like I’m vegan AND into astrology AND love hiking. Do I need three different apps now? This is exhausting

Avatar
Carmen August 20, 2025 at 8:29 am

Anyone else exhausted by having to become a professional dater just to find someone who texts back?? I have spreadsheets for this stuff now. SPREADSHEETS. What happened to just vibing with someone at a coffee shop.

Avatar
Derek September 10, 2025 at 9:46 pm

Anyone else notice how everyone’s profile says they’re “looking for something real” but then they can’t even maintain a text conversation for 3 days?

Avatar
Randall September 17, 2025 at 12:08 pm

Why do I keep doing this to myself? Downloaded three different apps this week and they all want me to write essays about my “authentic self.” I just want someone to watch Netflix with, not conduct a job interview.

Avatar
Carl September 25, 2025 at 1:38 pm

Music taste compatibility is actually super important tho if you can’t vibe to the same songs road trips gonna be hell
