Best Paper Award

The Program Committee used votes by the paper reviewers to select the Best Paper. The award was presented to:

Best Paper: Runner Up

The Program Committee found that two other papers were worthy of special recognition. Certificates were awarded to:

  • Seeing the Whole in Parts: Text Summarization for Web Browsing on Handheld Devices

Commended Papers

During the refereeing process, the very large number of papers submitted were divided into theme areas to help with the selection process. Each of the theme areas were considered by a panel who were asked to nominate the best paper from their area. The following papers were selected for commendation and awarded a certificate:

  • Application & UI area: "Web-based Personalization and Management of Interactive Video", by Hjelsvold, Vdaygiri, and Laut.
  • Browsers and Tools area: "WebViews: Accessing Personalized Web Content and Services", by Freire, Kumar, and Lieuwen.
  • Content and Coding area: "Function-based Object Model Towards Website Adaptation", by Chen, Zhou, Shi, Zhang, and Fengwu.
  • Culture area: "On Representation of a Highlight on the Web: the Amber Room as a Cultural Phenomenon in Progress", by Bogomazova and Malevanov.
  • Hypermedia area: "Finding Authorities and Hubs From Link Structures on the World Wide Web", by Borodin, Roberts, Rosenthal, and Tsaparas.
  • Languages and Standards area: "Keys for XML", by Buneman, Davidson, Fan, Hara, and Tan.
  • Mobile Agents and Wireless Access area: "Seeing the Whole in Parts: Text Summarization for Web Browsing on Handheld Devices", by Buyukkokten, Garcia-Molina, and Paepcke.
  • Performance, Reliability, Scalability area: "Distributed Cooperative Apache Web Server", by Li and Moon.
  • Practice and Experience area: "Engineering Server-Driven Consistency for Large Scale Dynamic Web Services", by Yin, Alvisi, Dahlin, and Iyengar.
  • Searching, Querying and Indexing area: "Rank Aggregation Methods for the Web", by Dwork, Kumar, Naor, and Sivakumar.
  • Web and Education area: "A Component Model for Standardized Web-based Education", by Anido-Rifn, Llamas-Nistal, Fernndez-Iglesias, Caeiro Rodrguez, Santos Gago, Rodrguez Estvez.

Best Student Papers

The Program Committee used votes by the paper reviewers to select the two Best Student Papers from the papers where the first author was a student at the time of submission. The awards were presented to:

  • Distributed Cooperative Apache Web Server
    - Quanzhong Li
  • PicASHOW: Pictorial Authority Search by Hyperlinks on the Web
    - Ronny Lempel

Best Poster

Best Poster Award

The best poster at WWW10 was selected in a ballot of attendees. The award was presented to:

The best presentation at WWW10 was selected by the Awards Chair, Simon Phipps, using the appraisals of a volunteer panel of judges. The award was presented to:
