David Green is the founding executive director of the National Initiative for a Networked Cultural Heritage, a diverse coalition of 90 educational institutions and cultural organizations dedicated to assuring leadership from the cultural community in the evolution of the digital environment. NINCH’s 2001 program includes a third series of national Copyright Town Meetings, development of an international database of digital humanities projects; research and publication of a Guide to Good Practice in the Digital Representation and Management of Cultural Heritage Materials; and Computer Science & the Humanities, a series of workshops building a research agenda for the next generation of digital tools and environments for humanists, in which intellectual needs shape technical solutions. David Green has a Ph.D. in American Studies from Brown University (1982) and has worked with the contemporary arts since 1984. Prior to directing NINCH, he was Director of Communications at the New York Foundation for the Arts, where he was instrumental in the development of Arts Wire, the nation’s largest online network for the arts community.
