LAST NIGHT

Author: Robin Tremble (From the book: Airy Nothing)

The sun set softly,
disappearing behind the silhouettes of trees,
and I enjoyed the magic moment
lost within the evening breeze.
Your lovely voice, so distant
yet found it's way to me
every word you spoke, I hovered on,
became a song; a poem
lyrics for the melody of wind chimes.

Aching to experience
the warmth of your mouth
close to my ear, as you spoke
the faint aroma on your breath
of chardonnay, merlot
or maybe cabernet
as the wind captured your hair
and blew it wildly in the air
tempo for the melody of wind chimes.

It was a midsummer night's dream,
like a fairy tale of days gone by,
with a bright, silvery moon's light,
a blanket of stars
and the voice of an angel
sweet in my ears.
What a tune I was hearing,
as fairies met in the clearing
dancing to the melody of wind chimes.
